Stops full of water, won't drain

Debris jamming the drain-pump impeller — coins, hairpins, keys that slipped past the drum — or a burnt pump motor. We open the coin trap, clear the impeller, and resistance-test the stator windings.

Clothes come out soaking wet

The drum never reached high-RPM spin: a snapped drive belt on top-loaders, a failed Hall (rotor position) sensor on direct-drive machines, or worn carbon brushes on older motors.

Violent shaking and banging on spin

Collapsed suspension rods on top-loaders (the press-down bounce test settles it — all four get replaced as a set) or worn shock absorbers on front-loaders, replaced in matched pairs.

Door stuck locked after the cycle

A burnt wax motor in the latch, or the pressure switch still sensing water. We pull the manual bypass ring to free your laundry first, then fix the cause.

Completely dead — no lights, no click

The safety interlock: the board won't power anything while it believes the door is open. We continuity-test the latch pins, then trace power through the line filter to the board.

Stops mid-cycle and flashes an error

Conflicting telemetry — usually a soap-scum-blocked air-dome tube making the pressure sensor read an overfill. We clear the line and ohm-test the sensor before condemning anything bigger.

The condo stakes are higher

Repair or replace, the washer version

A washer's working life runs 10–13 years. Belts, pumps, suspension kits, door locks, valves, and sensors are always worth fixing. The honest exception is the main tub bearing: when the spin cycle roars like a jet engine, the teardown cost usually argues for replacement — and we'll say so before you spend a dollar more.

The parts language you'll hear on site

Drain pump and coin trap, door bellows (the big rubber gasket that tears when a zipper gets pinched), suspension rods and shock absorbers, the motor coupling on legacy direct-drives, agitator dogs, the Hall sensor that reports drum speed, the wax-motor door latch, and the pressure switch with its air-dome tube. We name the failed part, show the reading, and quote it firm.
