Why is my Whirlpool washer showing F8E1, F9E1 or Sud?
Whirlpool washers report faults in the plainest version of the family language. F8E1 — LF or Lo FL on an HE top-loader — is a fill fault: taps not fully open, a kinked inlet hose, or clogged inlet screens. F9E1 is the drain side; before we condemn a pump we check for a drain hose pushed too far down the standpipe, a clogged pump filter and, on front-loaders, a blocked door-seal drain hole — a genuinely dead pump on an older direct-drive machine gets the WP3363394. F5E2 and LdL are door and lid-lock faults, sometimes just detergent buildup fouling the lock. F7E1 means the motor never reached speed: shipping bolts still in, or an overloaded, unbalanced load. Sud — also Sd or 5d — is excess suds from too much or non-HE detergent, PF is a power interruption mid-cycle, and HC means the hot and cold inlet hoses were reversed during installation.
What do AF, F4E3 and L2 mean on a Whirlpool dryer?
Whirlpool dryers keep it to three messages, and two of them are not part failures. AF — F4E3 on some models — means restricted airflow: a clogged lint screen, a crushed or kinked vent, or an exhaust run that needs cleaning, so clear the duct before paying for any component. L2 reports low or no line voltage to the heater, and in practice that is usually electrical rather than appliance: a blown fuse, a tripped breaker, or one leg of the 240V supply missing — a breaker can fail half-dead so the drum turns while the heater starves. PF just means a power interruption ended the drying cycle; restart it. When the fault is mechanical — a thumping drum on the 27-inch dryer platform — WPW10314173 drum rollers are a part we stock. What does the PO code on a Whirlpool refrigerator mean?
Whirlpool French-door and side-by-side refrigerators display one code that matters in Montreal: PO, the power-outage alert. It means power was off long enough for the freezer to rise to 18°F (-8°C) or warmer — after a Hydro-Quebec interruption, check whether the food is still safe, then press the button the display indicates to clear the alert. PO tells you what happened, not that the machine is broken. Most other Whirlpool refrigerator faults arrive as symptoms rather than codes: a freezer that stays cold while the fresh-food section runs warm points at the defrost system, so we test the defrost thermostat and heater assembly to restore airflow between compartments, and a fridge that never stops running usually hides a frost-choked evaporator behind the freezer's back panel. A warm cabinet with no code on the display is normal for this brand — book the diagnostic.
Why is my Whirlpool dishwasher showing F8E4, F6E4 or F6E3?
Three codes cover most Whirlpool dishwasher calls. F8E4 is the serious one: water or a leak in the base pan has tripped the flood float, and the machine will protect itself until the source — a real leak or simply a loose connection — is found and dried. Do not keep resetting it over a wood floor. F6E4 is an overfill or float-switch error caused by incorrect leveling: the dishwasher sits out of level and the tilt actuates the overfill float, which is why this code so often appears right after a move or a kitchen renovation rather than after a part fails. F6E3 means foam or suds were detected — the wrong detergent, too much of it, or a missing rinse-aid cap spilling rinse aid into the wash water. Two of the three are installation and usage conditions; the diagnostic separates them from a genuine leak.
What do F0, F00 and F0E1 mean on a Whirlpool cooktop?
Whirlpool electric and induction cooktops post two codes worth knowing. F0 — F00 on some displays — is a control-panel obstruction: an object, a splash of liquid, or cooking soil pressing on the touch control area reads as a stuck key, and the cure is often nothing more than cleaning and drying the glass. If F0 survives a careful cleaning, the touch control itself is suspect, and we test it before replacing anything.
